Program

Today's program consisted of an opportunity to meet several of the newly inducted members. Sertoma needs the energy and drive that new members bring to our organization and we welcome them all and encourage them to dive right in and get involved.

We began with Kristin Larsen who transferred into her position in TV Advertising with Charter Media from Oregon. She is a native Minnesotan who is married with two children and she joined Sertoma because she heard wonderful things about it from Trent Baumann who she replaced. Sue Slaybaugh is about to be a Jaycees graduate and she was looking for a new home in a service club. She chose ours because of her long association with the group since she and her husband Bob moved to the area 17 years ago because of his new job with Confidence Learning Center. They have one son. Sue is an account executive with Integra. Cathy Picek is with the Chamber of Commerce and she says she began her migration north 8 years ago from New Prague. Her husband is still commuting there to finish his stint as city manager which he hopes to retire from soon. Her previous work had something to do with lingerie but she is the Events and Communication Coordinator for the Chamber.
Aaron Meester joined Sertoma to get involved in the community and meet new people. He and his wife live in Little Falls and he commutes to Bremer Bank where his position is Business Banker. Aaron will go into detail next week since he volunteered to be Sertoman of the Day. Matt Hennekin is in the family insurance business, Dittmer Insurance. One of his employees is a long time Sertoma member Lowell Carlson who actually got Matt's father involved in the insurance business many years ago. Matt commutes from Buckman. He is married and has two children. Tom Krekow and his wife Anna are involved in Contemporary Photography under the auspicies of Aaron Thomas Photography. His wife is originally from Brainerd hence to move back to the lakes area from dull and boring Kansas City.

Andy Isackson is following along in his dad's footsteps. He was afraid with his long history with dog pound, he might be in trouble but everyone has welcomed him in spite of this. Andy works at CTC. He remembers his early involvement with Sertoma helping with the ditch picks.

Thanks to Bonnie Cumberland for taking notes

Thanks to all who helped with Flags at the Crow Wing County Fair--it looks great. Thanks too to the Pipe and Drape crew who set up at the Fair.
Dave Burggraff wanted everyone to know that the fee for the Sertoma Fundraiser Day at Vacationland Fun Park is $60 per person.
The Kinship Mille Lacs Swim for Mentoring is August 16th and John Raboin and Gary are sending around the pledge sheets. Gary Walters will be accompanied by Dave Bergin on his swim.
Kathy Williams is drumming up business—she would like to order another dozen 2008 Convention Shirts before the price goes up. Sign up or contact her if you are interested.
Contact Andy Isackson or Nate Grotzke if you have important news information. They have graciously agreed to team up and handle the publicity for the club.
August 25 - Dave Burggraff is hosting a fundraiser at Vacationland Fun Park to benefit Camp Sertoma on August 25, 2006. The fundraiser will consist of four activities - golf, bumper boats, balloon race and a Nascar simulation race. Looking for teams of 4. Fee is $100/team. Activities start at 11:00 am and end at 7:00 pm.
We need new and old members to sign up for Sertoman of the Day. It's a great way to introduce yourself to members of the club and for others to get to know more about you and your business. Also, if you have sponsored a new member recently, encourage them to sign up. Spots are wide open. Look for the sign up sheet to be passed around at the meeting or call Sandra Bonde at 829-8852.

Rumor Corner
  • Clues for the legs contest: most were photographed at the Mariucci Fiesta with one exception. We have three financial people, two associated with construction in some way and one independent entrepreneur. Click on Pam's email address at the bottom of your newsletter notification and send in your guesses to win the $43 bucks!!!! Vote by next week--remember a nickle a dime or a quarter counts as a vote but the sergeants will fine you at least a buck for not voting!!!
  • Congratulations to Grandpa Korte--his new grandson is in children's hospital but is expected to be home soon and just fine.
  • Inquiring minds want to know if Charlie Bartels does his rain dances with or without clothes.
  • John Raboin is now the proprietor of "Whalesareus".
  • Congratulations to newly wed Todd Alguire.
  • Dave Burggraff got fined for trying to own the streets.
  • Our own mad hugger Jinny Haugen was fined for PDA and then asked if that was a Help-U-Sell selling tactic.
  • Paul Gropper paid a "You Know" fine. Unfortunately we didn't get the rest of the story.
  • Our intrepid sergeant Bill Goers didn't fine himself but did share his naked accordion story--not quite up to the Barbi Doll Foot in the Ear story but close.
