Today's speaker was
Pat Altrichter who is an employee of the Brainerd School System. Pat works half time as a principal at both Whittier and Nisswa Schools. She was at Sertoma to speak in behalf of the Crossing Arts Alliance. This is a clearing house for all the art programs in the area. It was made possible by a Blandin Foundation grant and includes all the surrounding areas. They are presently spear-heading a movement to improve the existing facilities. Everyone was encouraged as Pat put it to
"Nurture the arts".

Buy your Sertoma Shirts From Karen Owen-The National Convention of Sertoma in Florida last week went very well. Brainerd delegates campaigned actively for the Jon Haapajoki Foundation. The video was presented and pins were sold. Dave Burggraff reported that about $8,000 is still left to reach out goal. The Fargo Sertomans contributed $4,000 and some smaller amounts came in from other clubs.

Join a Committee All of the Sertoma committees welcome and need new members. If you can participate, please find a committee and join. The Newsletter committee for instance is desperately in need of 1 or 2 people who are willing to take notes at meetings for a month at a time. If we get 4 people, that means only three times a year.

Relay for Life Team is Very Successful!!!! Many thanks to Sandra Ehrich who headed up the
Sertoma Hopper's who participated in the Relay for Life on July 28-29. Sertomans who walked for cancer included Sandra, Jinny Haugen-Segler, Paul Koering, Pete Legge, Milo Johnson, Jim Potvin, Jim Park, Bonnie Cumberland, Paul Gropper, Brenda Meech, Bob Nibble, Steve Augustinack, Kathy Bittner-Lee, Erik Bonde, Twila Ehrich, Lori Redmond, and Dave Clausen. Our band raised $2,200. The team shirts were also a big hit and Sandra still has some of them available for sale. It should be noted that the Serteens participated also. Their teams raised $6,000 and should be congratulated for their fine effort. Many luminaries were also lit by the Sertoma team in memory of friends and loved ones who have lost the battle with cancer.
