Winter
Wonderland and the Red Cross Blood Drive The
Brainerd Noon Sertoma Club and the Brainerd Sunrise
Club have combined to thank those who participate in
the "Bring a Buddy" Red Cross Blood Drive which will
be held on September 28-October 2nd. Those wishing
to make appointments can call 838-LIFE (5433). Each
person who contributes will receive a Winter
Wonderland admission as well as the following
invitation: This thank you invitation is good for
one free admission for your family vehicle to the
Sertoma Winter Wonderland during the 2009 season.
Sertoma members serve our Brainerd Lakes by working
thousands of hours each year on community service
projects such as the Sertoma Winter Wonderland,
Speech and Hearing projects, our Holiday American
Flag Displays, Highway Cleanup, The Mariucci Fiesta
at Confidence Learning Center, the Sunrise Liftathon
and many ore. Sertoma fundraisers allow our clubs to
donte many thousands of dollars to dozens of local
organizations that make a difference for many in our
Brainerd Lakes. We hope your family will love the
Sertoma Winter Wonderland and visit us again and
again.The Brainerd Board Report
"The Show" is a new promotion by BL Broadcasting.
September 11-13th. This is an opportunity to promote
Sertoma. We will have our own separate area to show
the many facets of Sertoma. It will display our
activities and donations to the community Volunteers
will be needed since we would like to have this
booth include members to talk with the public.
Jeff Fitch did get enough volunteers so that the Rib
contest is going to be on the list of upcoming
activities.
Winter Wonderland is caught up enough to pay out the
rest of the money. Over $44,000 is available to give
back to the community.
Membership is an issue. Overdue membership dues will
be notified. We dropped Kathy Bittner Lee and Jenny
Vesel and added Paul Williamson.
Snowflies--new concept see Mark Korte for details.
A meeting to develop strategies to work more closely
with the Brainerd Dispatch will be scheduled.
The Sound system is in progress. Joe Schulte is
coordinating this effort.
Earn an Energizer shirt--bring in a new member and
you will be awarded one of these lovely items.
New Co-Chairs for Winter Wonderland are needed!!
Beth needs an assistant to help with flags. See
LoAnn to apply!
Buy Stuff, Sell Stuff Committee did great work--Rick
Besmehn sold the old trailer for over $1200.
The new musical group is scheduled to debut (Sertoma
Outlaws) at the Fall Leadership meeting at
Confidence Learning Center on September 12th.
New business included replacing our supply of
coolers and accepting Camp Confidence as an

| Greeter
Schedule |
| Remember:
As greeter you have several duties. You need to arrive about 10
minutes early. It is your job to greet people, help them find
their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate.
The money collected must be divided by the Greeters equally--half
goes to the Current Club Treasurer for the social committee and
half goes to the Club President along with the bucket of tickets.
Be there by 11:45 and call somebody to substitute for you if you
can't be there. |

Note |
Congrats Beth Burnard on your new job with Carrousel Travel.
John Raboin gave an update for Gary. He encouraged us to watch
his progress in the Brainerd Dispatch. He is in Wisconsin--he is
getting an awful lot of publicity along the way. Facebook has a
video and written blog. Of course, Gary is a little behind
schedule. He is suppose to meet with the whole Minnesota
delegation at the Capitol and hopes to arrive there on time.
Today we had an opportunity to contribute to the cause--see John
Raboin if you missed the sheet.
New member orientation was held after today's meeting, Present
with their sponsors from left to right were Keith Kolstad, David
Goos, Clyde Bender, Pete Knight, and Paul Williamson. Welcome
officially to Sertoma!! |

The
government, cars for clunkers and Art's earning a place in Amy
Klobuchar's walk of shame (video conference) were the main
topics of discussion with the Pound--thank god only one mention
of big sunfish. They decided to make Art their official
candidate for governor today--tjhe newsletter editor is willing
to handle the publicity!
-
Apologies to Wilfred Brumley for using him as the poster boy for
the party without asking but it was such a fun picture of him!!
-
Wrong way Raboin got his picture headed West when he was suppose
to be headed east with the Wacky Walters crew. He obviously
wanted nothing to do with the Washington crew. Terry thinks
maybe it is all a scam and Gary is hanging out in Leader.
-
WTG Bob Sherman and welcome back!! Thought for sure we might be
greeterless today! Special thanks to Paul Williamson who didn't
mind being a greeter just a mere day after being accepted as a
member.
-
Ask Reed Campbell how he tried to pay $1.43 for a Corvette.
-
Mike Boen had the best playground voice today when the traveling
mike didn't work. Gus to the rescue half way through!!
-
BoysNBerries is into their sweet corn season--yummmmm!
-
Curling Open House Sunday-call Raboin for more info.
-
Poor Pete Knight--traded Randy Phillips for a sponsor for Karen
Owen. Poor guy had to come to orientation without any of them.
He also had to pay Randy's fine for making the police blotter
(irate citizen who reported an over zealous security salesman).
-
Brian Lehman tried to rearrange the kiddy table but he didn't
get away with it!! The Dog Pound tried to bribe the waitress
into serving them first. Her supervisor came in right
afterwards--hmmm maybe they got in trouble too. Enquiring minds
want to know--did they get their dinner first?
-
Gary is upright now but--Google Earth wasn't too accurate on the
shoulders on the roads . Lowell included staying upright in his
prayers. He has had six biff.S (he fell down) Mr. Brave wasn't
wearing his kneepads to start with and has the scars to prove
it. Virginia and West Virginia are not going to be easy when the
rolling hills of Wisconsin are giving him grief!!
-
Terry Curtis went to BIR to get some cultural diversity
training. Business consultant Brian Lehman who sneaks out every
meeting--got a shameless promotion fine. LoAnn has given Terry
permission to accumulate fines. He also recommended not
including real police blotters or bankrupcies.
-
Congratulations to Sara Nelson on her engagement--and her lovely
photo advertising her business that made our Sergeant want to
develop hearing problems.
-
Dick Stoltman mentioned suppository form when he was promoted to
chamber representative.
