Dave Clausen presented the Board Report. The Minutes have been
mailed. Highlights include 4 new additions and no drops. Welcome
new members Chris Baso from Farm Bureau Financial, Anna Gorecky
from Snap Fitness, Jeff Fitch from Mid-State Refrigeration, and
Doug Campbell from Positive Realty. The presentation from the
Sponsorship Committee included a $1,000 donation to a person in
need of a new hearing aide. The proposal to work at BIR is under
consideration. Pipe and drape continues to meet after most of the
events to continue the process of improving our set-up and
take-down procedures. The Scott Hanson Comedy Tour raised $495 for
the Club. Work continues on the Winter Wonderland Project.
Everyone is encouraged to attend the Board Meetings and each
person in attendance votes on the issues. |

| Announcements |
| Rick Besmehn gave us an encouraging update on
Dave Burggraff. His short term memory does seem to be
returning but he is still unable to work. Many people have
expressed an interest in continuing to help Donna who couldn't
believe the outpouring of helpers from the last scheduled
event. Groups who want to continue to help with clean up,
mechanical work, painting etc. just need to contact Rick at
Lakes Area Body Shop and he will coordinate the efforts. |
| Pipe and Drape thanked everyone who
helped us put on a truly great MBNA Show. It certainly
presented some new challenges and Kari Barnes explained it was
a learning experience. The committee met after to get things
organized for next year. The amount of business being
generated with the addition of the new equipment is far beyond
what was predicted. |
| Paul Heinlein said Gossamer Ceiling is
really becoming well organized. Thanks to all who helped with
those two events this year. |
| Thursday, May 10th 5 p.m. Vacationland Fun
Park is the start point for the spring Ditch Pick. Poor
Gary will be cooking and fish is on the menu. Come as soon as
you can, if the ditches are all cleaned enjoy the social
opportunity. |
| Wanted three captains for flag days
this year--see Beth Burnard. Beth has already put the flag
days on the interactive calendar. Anyone can put items on the
calendar--we just suggest that they be of interest to all
Sertomans. We would like to get more people aware of this
great tool so it is put to optimum use. |
| May 3-5 - Great Plains
Regional Convention in St. Cloud. Make plans to attend--we
will have a hospitality booth encouraging people to attend our
convention the next year. |

| Greeter
Schedule |
| Remember:
As greeter you have several duties. You need to arrive about 10
minutes early. It is your job to greet people, help them find
their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate.
The money collected must be divided by the Greeters equally--half
goes to the Current Club Treasurer for the social committee and
half goes to the Club President along with the bucket of tickets.
Be there by 11:45 and call somebody to substitute for you if you
can't be there. |

| Sertoman of the Day |
Mark Korte, a long time employee of Nor-son, a Board Member at
Confidence Learning Center, an active member of the MMBA, and
father to three children and grandfather to two was today's
honored Sertoman. Mark is married to Pam and has just changed
positions at Nor-Son, one of the most respected construction
companies in the Brainerd area. He was senior project manager, but
he now is senior estimator and spends more time in the office.
Mark is also very active in Sertoma which he joined in 1997 with
Gary Walters as his sponsor. He is currently serving as second
vice president. Mark is the 7th of 9 children and remembers his
boyhood fondly. His parents moved from Chicago to a small town
near Grand Rapids and operated a small resort for several years.
He is well acquainted with Anita and her father. In fact, he
claims that his family heirloom bedroom set traveled from Chicago
to their new home in the back of Anita's dad's beer truck. Mark's
most embarrassing moment centered around an attempt to return to
his softball playing career. His lack of catching ability and
sliding into third drama caused his wife and children to leave the
game early. Thanks Mark for all you do for the community and
Sertoma. |

Melody Banks turned to the newsletter editor and asked, "Who is
Curt Hawkinson when Steve announced the pot O gold. That's ok, I
wouldn't have known his first name either if I didn't do the
data base.
-
Our Board Chairman has a very youthful new haircut.
-
Welcome back Tom Rosenberger, Todd Dunlap
-
Happy 36th birthday Karen Owen--thanks Anita for sharing.
-
Does Scotty Fisher have a real job--actually he was being teased
for being too shy to stand up for all his hard work on both Pipe
and Drape and Gossamer!!
-
Mark Korte has decided that Art Becker is somehow related to
him---anyway we can all call him Uncle Art now.
-
Sergeant Bill got Scotty today for making fun of him and his
struggle with the tape. Scotty said Bill O Tape 1. Sergeant Bill
fined him and said Bill 2, Tape 1, Scotty 0. Our hardworking
sergeants have just about doubled the number of fines collected
for the year. Today they socked it to all the retired folks.
-
Julia got fined a dollar to put her in practice for her upcoming
service as president.
-
Jeff Olson has a porn picture on his phone to share with Brian
Lehman who wondered if he had a picture phone today.
-
Nice "expensive" Sears jacket Mary Kolkind.
-
Guess who is spending his 33rd anniversary on a fishing trip
without his wife.
-
Lowell Carlson will definitely close the hatch on his car before
he backs out of his garage next time.
