Board Meeting |
| Pipe and Drape Pipe and Drape
continues to smooth out the kinks. This is a very busy week
with three pipe and drape events and two gossamer ceilings so
everyone needs to fulfill their commitments and/or show up to
help at the last minute. Kudos to Kari for being in charge of
the group that is already talking about paying off the
borrowed money for equipment a year early. The proceeds from
the C & I show were around $10,000 which far exceeded
expectations. You rock Pipe and Drape Girl! Thanks to all her
busy helpers also. |
| Rory Coit encouraged all of us to consider
becoming a Foundation Fellow. For the small sum of $100
you can contribute to the Foundation. We presently have only
four members but would like to add more. See Rory for an
application. Our delegation of 28 is the largest registered for
the St. Cloud Convention which presently has 250 participants.
Rory encouraged everyone to proudly wear their 2008 Convention
Windshirt and be walking ambassadors for our Regional
Convention in 2008. |
| Roses, Roses, Roses for April
25th-Administrative Professionals Day Mike Boen and the
Northern Lakes Sertoma Club are again raising money for their

termed "Secretary's Day" If you would like to order a bouquet
of 6 roses for $12 to be delivered on the appropriate day,
contact Mike either by email or phone. Mike's email address is
biggermike@brainerd.net. |
| May 3-5 - Great Plains

| Greeter
Schedule |
| Remember:
As greeter you have several duties. You need to arrive about 10
minutes early. It is your job to greet people, help them find
their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate.
The money collected must be divided by the Greeters equally--half
goes to the Current Club Treasurer for the social committee and
half goes to the Club President along with the bucket of tickets.
Be there by 11:45 and call somebody to substitute for you if you
can't be there. |

| Sertoman of the Day |
Doug
Campbell stepped before the group today, helping out Mark Korte
who was originally scheduled for this honored Sertoman spot. Doug
is a "new" member who has had previous experience as a Sertoman
since he was a charter member of the Little Moran Group that
disbanded a few years ago. Doug is married to the effervescent
Renee (he describes her as "hot") and they have been married for
22 years with four children, the youngest of whom is eleven. Doug
himself is the last of twelve children of the late Marv Campbell.
He explained that his Dad would answer the question, "Why so many
children?" with the statement, "I kept doing it until I got it
right!" Doug is an owner/broker at Positive GMAC Real Estate where
he has been for 17 years. The company usually has between 20-25
employees and they are located in Baxter and Brainerd. Doug was
sponsored by Jeff Olson and joined to continue to be involved in
the community after Jaycees. He has been a long-time supporter of
events at Confidence Learning Center. Doug and Hawk will probably
have to start a club--Groping the Wrong Lady in Public since his
most embarrassing moment was Hawk in the Elevator translated into
Doug at the hockey game. Welcome to Sertoma Doug. |

Of
Note |
|
Sertomans are asked to include the wife of long time Sertoma
Member Bill OHara in their prayers. His wife is undergoing
extensive chemotherapy for life-threatening cancer. On a happier
note our treasurer Darren Larson was AWOL from Sertoma today--he
was at the hospital where Abigal Grace had arrived at 6 pounds 7
ounces. Congratulations Darren and Sarah! |

-
Gary Walters evaded his fine for introducing himself as a
"loser" by slipping out early--beware the sergeants Gary!
-
Sergeant Bill and Sergeant Brian are on a role to set a record
for collecting the most fine money in one day. Their total today
was $84 and the record is $98. We are expecting a wonderful
party guys!
-
Welcome back Dan Holmes, Deb Kraklau, Holly Connaker, Joe Brenny
and of course Bob Sherman (Pam bribed him with a cold Miller
beer to make sure he came and greeted. Of course it was just a
"picture" on his reminder email but one day she is going to have
to pay up for real).
-
Congratulations on your Ace Award Diane Rook Johnson.
-
We were all so noisy and "slow" today that Sergeant Brian
decided we were all going to have to sit at Raboin's table.
Speaking of John, it was nice of him to encourage a guest to
come to Sertoma and then not come himself.
-
Sergeant Bill still thinks he can change the weather by fining
people--this time the snow-mobilers all got it.
-
The jail girls are going to play adult chocolate games with
Nancy Williams.
-
Kathy Williams who did an amazing job with shirts didn't have to
pay a fine today for finally being done with that tiresome
job--Jeff Olson had to pay it for her. Thanks Kathy for all that
shirt lugging and sign up sheet stuff!
