 "Meth:It's
Everybody's Business" is the title of a community visioning event
scheduled for two different locations in the Brainerd Lakes area.
The event which is co sponsored by the Crow Wing County Meth
Coalition and the Initiative Foundation will take place on
Tuesday, May 2nd at 5:30-8:00 p.m. at the Crosby High School
Auditorium Cafeteria and then again on May 8th during the same
time period at Forestview Middle School. The event includes a free
dinner and breakout sessions. The data created will create a
community vision and a two or three year plan for taking back our
community from the meth problem which costs taxpayers a minimum of
a million and a half dollars a year. Meth affects everyone with
higher taxes, higher crime rates, domestic violence, child
endangerment, treatment costs, court costs, jail expenses, and
environmental pollution. The coalition consists of people from all
levels of the community including recovering users. In fact one of
our two speakers was Brian Andrews, a recovering meth addict, who
stressed the need for community involvement. A question and answer
period elicited the fact that most meth is not now made locally
but trafficked in from other areas including Canada and Mexico.
Our other speaker was Preston Windorski who deal with the problem
first hand as a senior corrections agent for Crow Wing County. |

Rory and a few members attended the 5 year anniversary of the
Northern Lakes Club. He encouraged us to help them grow
by supplying them with names of potential members in the
Nisswa-Pequot Lakes area. |
Kathy
Williams has the new microfiber windshirts for sale for
$35. They are inscribed with the logo for our upcoming
regional convention. She will order them in increments of a
dozen and you can sign up at a meeting or contact her. (Dave
Clausen is very photogenically holding up a sample in the
photo) |
| Dave Burggraph handed out coupons for
Vacationland Family Fun Park and encouraged us all to
participate in next week's ditch pick which will start
from his new facility. |
| Tami Webb encouraged all members to consider
becoming involved in the North Minnesota District Board of
Governors. Her term is up this weekend and we need to
continue to be involved on the regional level. |
| The Basketball Tournament this
Saturday has been changed to the Crosby School. |

everyone's dues. This surcharge is non-refundable and will be

| Greeter
Schedule |
|
| Remember:
As greeter you have several duties. You need to arrive about 10
minutes early. It is your job to greet people, help them find
their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate.
The money collected must be divided by the Greeters equally--half
goes to the Current Club Treasurer for the social committee and
half goes to the Club President along with the bucket of tickets.
Be there by 11:45 and call somebody to substitute for you if you
can't be there. |
