Our program today consisted of two parts. First, Rory Coit gave us
an recap of a very interesting Board Meeting. We are down to 177
members because Rick Cole transferred to the Morning Club One of
the duties of the attendees to the Regional convention in Dubuque
will be to present our check for $4,425 to the Foundation since we
have budgeted to be a 100% Club. Another big expenditure is the
$4,460 budgeted to assist the school district with its phonic ear
program. We are officially severing ties with A & N for several
reasons. Our new pipe and drape cooperative supplier will probably
come from Grand Rapids. There has been much dissatisfaction with
the service we have received this year from A & N. Big thank you’s
to Julia Sullivan for coping with the problems and getting us
through this Pipe and Drape Season. We need to lock in long term
commitments for the big shows to keep A & N from continuing the
unscrupulous takeovers. Seventy Five percent of the flags are paid
for, and we had the rookies from last year volunteer to be a team
so we are only one short. Ditch Pick has been scheduled for
Thursday May 4th and will start from Vacationland Park instead of
the Back to Exact Body Shop. Dues structure and meal costs are the
subject of some committee investigation again. We are also getting
an 06-07 $15 International Dues increase.
The second portion of the program involved meeting Patricia Ross
from Good Samaritan who encouraged us to support their annual
bowling fundraiser which will be held at Jack’s House on April
30th and May lst. They have 400 bowlers signed up and hope to
raise $30,000. Your support would be welcome and they are also
looking for phone volunteers. Call 825-2505 and ask for Illa to
sign up or get more details. |

| Greeter
Schedule |
|
| Remember:
As greeter you have several duties. You need to arrive about 10
minutes early. It is your job to greet people, help them find
their badges and sell them a ticket if they wish to participate.
The money collected must be divided by the Greeters equally--half
goes to the Current Club Treasurer for the social committee and
half goes to the Club President along with the bucket of tickets.
Be there by 11:45 and call somebody to substitute for you if you
can't be there. |

 Bill
Goers - Stand up comedy could be in Bill Goers
future—he had everyone rolling in the aisles. He started out with
the hilarious tale of how he came to play the accordion so well.
Everyone who attended last year’s rookie party was treated to his
musical talents. In Bill’s words, “My Dad told me accordion
lessons would make me popular.” He then went on to explain that he
has always been in his words “slow to catch on.” He has come to
the conclusion along with Vicki, his wife of 28 years, that his
music sounds much much better in the garage. His hobbies center
around activities that he and his four children could enjoy
together. He does play golf. Bill owns his own business called
Cygnature Title and Abstract which has branches in Brainerd,
Longville and Little Falls. It includes 13 employees and they
specialize in real estate closings. He has been in the business
since 1993. Bill joined Sertoma because he really likes helping
people and doesn’t know how to use the word “no”. Karen Owen is
his sponsor. He spoke highly of the benefits of growing up in a
great Leave It To Beaver family and then told us his most
embarrassing moment. I don’t think anyone has topped the “Barbi
Doll foot in the ear for many years” tale. We do look forward to
Bill and his American Idol competition playing his accordion!! |
