Program
Mary Marana explained a few interesting details about the Crisis Line They have been part of the Brainerd area support network for 21 years. Calls have logged 8,760 hours, 55,000 people have been helped and the equivalent of $170,000 has been donated as time by phone volunteers.

Collaboration with other organizations is important. Northern Pines and the counties are cooperating in the Mobile Crisis Outreach Program that provides a trained person to deal with mental health crisis situations in the home. They have 6 counties to cover with licensed people and practicioners. Otherwise, the police officer has to take that person to the Emergency Room and sit with them. Most cases do not require hospitalization. Last year 194 calls were made to this service. To date this year 129 calls have needed a response. The call volume in the crisis line has gone up as well as the difference in the content of the calls. Men are using the crisis line more this year than ever before.

Yellow Red Suicide Prevention Program is presented in area schools each year. To date 878 students have received this presentation. The number of students who have asked for help after the program is up considerably. The stress of the economy is filtering down to the children.

Mary asked for volunteers for the Crisis Line. Businesses were encouraged to contact the Crisis line to help deal with depression in the workplace. She had packets to hand out for employees and expressed her willingness to work with any business organization who want to address mental health issues.

Crisis Line is non-profit and accepts donations. Mary is the only full time employee.
Thanks Pam Sachs for taking notes. Thanks Kathy Williams for helping with pictures and our every wonderful attendance lady Bonnie Cumberland.

He discussed his fourteen years in Sertoma. He outlined the expansion of Sertoma activities. He encouraged everyone to step up and take part in these activities that raise money for Sertoma so that we do not have to decide which one of the fund raisers to cancel.
