Dave ClausenDave Clausen again filled in well when the election of officers was postponed with hilarity. He had to display his shirt given to him at the Home and Patio show to help him in his “dream” of becoming a macho construction guy. Dream Builder Hawk Hawkinson even gave him an employment application.

President Gary Walters gave a report on the meetings that have been held in relation to the proposed Christmas Lights fundraiser. Dream Builder Hawk HawkinsonHe made several relevant points: (a) it could raise anywhere from $25,000 to $60,000 (b) it would not replace Pipe and Drape but would instead give some people who cannot participate in Pipe and Drape an opportunity to help raise money for the club (c) it would mainly involve some capital outlay in setting up the site for the first time and Sertoma people willing to sell spots to businesses and clubs as well as man the ticket booth, and (d) now is the time for anyone with an opinion either positive or negative to share it with the members of the board.

Sertoman of the Day
Terry CurtisTerry Curtis who is Director of Business Development for Anderson Brothers Construction Company was today’s Sertoman of the Day. Other than a little spice in his background (running for Miss Pequot while in high school and a background in theater) Terry seems to be a wonderful addition to the club. He is a native of the Crosslake area, in fact his family has lived there since the late 1800’s. He went to school at BCC and UMD eventually graduating with a degree in corporate development and marketing. He and his wife Dee Ann have a brand new son born in March. His hobbies include anything outdoors, home improvements, landscaping and working with youth. He is involved with a committee of volunteers in Crosslake that staffs and runs the Old Fire Hall, a Christian Youth Center. His dream for the future involves trying to create a world . . .”in which all of our kids could live in a kind compassionate environment both in their home and community.” Welcome to Sertoma Terry.

Notes
A notice to all you golfing enthusiasts. You have three wonderful opportunities this year to golf and help worthy causes. The Legacy will host Lakeland Public TV on May 22. Fas 829-7762 Chris Gross. On Friday June 14th they will again be hosting one of the big fundraising events of the season for Camp Confidence, the Classic Golf Tournament. Later on this summer you will be able to travel to the Vintage Golf Course in Staples where a big Camp Sertoma benefit golf tourney will be held on Aug 2nd. Sertomans have ample opportunities to get in some great golf and to see their moneys benefit causes which are near and dear to their hearts. Consider becoming a corporate sponsor at any of these events.

Find a Sawbuck Corner:
The FAS Program was designed to encourage people to read the newsletter. Even those who attend the meeting can benefit from reviewing the announcements etc. If you find the letters FAS followed by your name, you must call the number provided and just leave a message that you called and attend the next meeting to collect your money. Simple--however 90% of the people never respond.
Photos Photos Everywhere New photos go up almost every week on our new MSN Community homepage. This community is for the club, easy to join and gives you the opportunity to add edit or delete any photos that are posted as well as leave messages for fellow Sertomans. It is a good way to thank someone for doing a good job or give them some positive feedback for a big event in their life.
