Jim
Povich from MNDOT presented at today's meeting. His talk
centered around funding for today's roads which is based on
three topics: growth, safety, and congestion. He delineated the
contrast between the 70's and 80's when the 12 county District 3
was not receiving its fair share of highway money with the
present when this is not the case. Then he spent some time on
the governor's proposal which he stated unequivocally will not
pass. The legislature is currently in the conference committee
mode to attempt to draw together three different ideas presented
by the governor, Senate and House.
