The Brainerd Area Sertoma Club roster reads like the “Who’s Who” of
the Brainerd Lakes Area. Educators, bankers, insurance
professionals, retailers, technical specialists, engineers, small
business owners, nonprofits, men and women. We are more than 150
members strong. Our members join to network, enjoy good company, and
to serve. The Sertoma mission is service and our members get
important things done and have fun while doing it. If you’re a giver
and a doer and enjoy the company of bright people doing significant
work then you’re in the right place.
Involvement
People subscribe to a cause, generally because of a desire to “get
involved”. This means pitching in when someone is in need to
introduce a speaker, give the invocation, help the Sergeant at Arms,
work on projects, etc. Members are expected to be a part of the
“work party” by sharing their time and talents. There are many ways
a member gets involved.
Attendance - Dues
Being a regular attendee at meetings and club functions is
important. Members should strive to attend as often as possible.
Paying dues is a responsibility that everyone should handle easily.
Club officers should not have to chase a member down to collect
dues. Dues are billed quarterly one month prior to the new quarter.
Dues can also be billed annually.
Growth
An easy responsibility for every member relates to growth. Encourage
new members to bring in a new Sertoman as quickly and as often as
possible. Membership recruitment is a great habit to get in to and
an important responsibility. Building a Club in another community is
another way to expand the growth of Sertoma.
Fund Raisers
A Club’s sponsorship survives on the basis that the organization is
able to raise funds successfully. Members owe it to their Club to be
a part of the action when it comes to working fund raising projects.
Brag about the Club
People are attracted to a service club because of its community
involvement. Members should talk about their Club and its projects
and activities.
Fellowship and Sharing
The basic ingredient of a successful Club rests on a good program of
fellowship. Each one of us has something of value to offer the
organization. Enjoy what you do and the company of one another. The
talent and experience of each member is very important. Both should
be shared fully with one’s service to the Club. Life learned
experiences can be easily adapted to volunteerism. Share and Care.
Lead
Regardless of we may think, in each person there is a leadership
talent. Service Clubs are always looking for new leaders. Get
involved, join a committee, serve on the board, and put your best
foot forward.
